Koehn Construction partnered with the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation to transform 7.5 acres of undeveloped land into a fully functional public shooting and archery range near Copan, Oklahoma.
Moving Ground, Building A Range
Site development drove the project. KCS imported roughly 24,215 cubic yards of dirt to build the range’s protective berms and develop what had been an open field, coordinating with a neighboring property owner to source that volume of material nearby.
The finished facility includes two 828-square-foot covered shooting structures — a 50-yard range and a 100-yard range, each with six shooting bays — plus an archery platform built for multiple types of users: an elevated deck for bow hunters and a shooting table underneath for crossbow hunters.
Site improvements included a precast Tioga concrete restroom vault that arrived as a single structure and was craned into place, roughly 5,840 square feet of concrete sidewalk, 800 square feet of ADA-accessible parking, and approximately 13,115 square feet of gravel parking. KCS poured the precast-style concrete shooting benches on site specifically for the facility.
This has been a great experience. Koehn has been a great company to work with, and we appreciate the work they've done on this range. It looks great!
